Award winning songwriter and collaborator to Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, Ross Golan will drop the NFT collection for his conceptual album on Terra Virtua in Q1 2022

London, UK – 11th January 2022: Multi-platinum winning songwriter and artist, Ross Golan, and Terra Virtua, the digital collectibles, virtual reality platform and gateway to the metaverse, have partnered to turn Golan’s acclaimed musical, The Wrong Man, into the world’s first non-fungible token (NFT) musical.

The move by Golan – famous for collaborations with Selena Gomez, Flo Rida, Celine Dion, Nicki Minaj, Maroon 5 and One Direction, among many others – highlights a new revenue stream for musicians, giving them the ability to sell directly to their audiences, and giving fans the chance to own a piece of their favourite artist’s work.

The Wrong Man started life as a folk song about a man wrongly convicted of a murder he didn’t commit, which Golan used to play live in people’s living rooms, then bars and lofts, from Sydney to New York.

Over the years, Golan turned that one song into a concept album of songs, that told the tale of protagonist Duran, who has a one-night stand with a woman he meets at a bar, then is framed for murder by her jealous ex-husband.

The album was subsequently transformed into an animated film and then a stage musical by Hamilton alumni Thomas Kail, starring three-time Tony nominee Joshua Henry as the protagonist and premiering Off-Broadway in autumn 2019 to sell-out crowds.

The limited edition digital collectibles available to buy will be an eclectic mix of music, graphics and film, including the full animated musical, vinyl, posters featuring artwork from the musical and a previously unreleased track from Golan.

The partnership demonstrates how musical fans used to streaming, can now own content in a way never before possible, whilst also getting even closer to the artists they admire. The NFTs will land on Terra Virtua and be available to buy in the first quarter of 2022. A new production of the musical is expected in 2023.

Terra Virtua, CEO, Jawad Ashraf, commented, “Ross’ journey with The Wrong Man is truly inspirational, and the perfect vehicle for us to create an ‘NFT first’, the first musical to be made available in the format. The NFTs will engage directly with people who have become fans of the musical as a concept album, an animated film, or a Broadway musical, whilst creating additional revenue streams for musicians and producers,

Ross Golan, said, “The Wrong Man continues to open doors and present unique opportunities to shine a light both on the music and the subject of wrongful convictions. I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this historic moment with Terra Virtua and I’m honored to be a part of a community whose interests lie in the greater good.”
